I’ve been leading workshops in a huge variety of settings since 1998 including:

  • Early years
  • Schools (KS1, KS2 KS3, KS4)
  • Youth groups
  • Community groups
  • People with learning difficulties
  • Corporate team building
  • Mental health service users
  • Prisons
  • Summer camps and festivals
  • Out of school hours clubs
  • Voluntary sector organisations

I can tailor a workshop or series of workshops to suit your needs. I can include singing, drumming or both, and can draw on music from a wide range of traditions, and can cater for all abilities and levels of confidence.

Recent residencies:

South African Singing with Glossopdale School junior choir. I  spent a morning teaching the students three songs, in two and three part harmony, with percussion and movements. The following week I led a rehearsal and performance at Cuture Derbyshire conference at The winding Wheel in Chesterfield. Here is a video of the performance:

Drumming Group from Lees Brook School

Drumming Group from Lees Brook School

Djembe drumming with students at Lees Brook School. Eight students rehearsed rhythms on djembe to play at the closing ceremony of the Derbyshire School Games, at Derbyshire couty Cricket Club.

African drumming workshops at Chellaston Junior School. We had a great time learning bell, chekere, djun jun and djembe rhythms with all the Y5 classes. We sang a song or two and then once the rhythm was cooking some of the children got up and danced. Wooo!
